These snap on plastic lids are designed to be used after you have opened your preserves to help keep them fresh for the couple of days you have to use them whilst they are stored in the refrigerator. These are made to fid jar sizes 31 and 36

On some jars made prior to 1975 these may not have a tight fit due to a difference in rim height, but not all bottles are affected.
